Research degrees
As a prospective PhD or MSt(Res) student, we invite you to work with an individual supervisor or supervisory team with the Institute of Iranian Studies, and not a specific programme of study. It is therefore important that you look at staff research interests within the University and ensure that your project matches an existing area of research.
If you are unable to identify a possible supervisor, please contact the Institute or School directly, who will be happy to advise you of the most appropriate academic for your chosen research area.
Applicants for the MRes or MPhil programmes are not required to contact a possible supervisor before making an application.
Co-tutelle arrangements (PhD)
The University also offers opportunities for PhD study in partnerships with other universities in the UK and overseas. To learn more, please see the Global PhD pages.
Funding
Each School has separate funding possibilities and you will need to discuss these with your prospective supervisor. By way of illustration, in the School of History, details of funding opportunities for potential postgraduates can be found on the School’s postgraduate funding page.
